  • I can understand why somebody would be offended by somebody sitting during the national anthem, but I agree that people should be allowed to display patriotism how they wish. I personally would be fine with standing for the anthem, but not having to put your hand over your heart.

  • It is a constitutional right to protest our government. What the flag represents and the National anthem is so much more. How many moms and dads cried themselves to sleep because their sons and daughters lost their lives to bring freedom to those who had no voice, no influence in the governing of this great nation. What was their sacrifice for? Why did they have to loose their children for ungrateful and disrespectful people? Protesting is an American right guaranteed by the Constitution. Disrespecting is not protesting.

  • Kneeling is a gesture of servitude. It is for subjects, slaves, and servents. The American revolutionary war and the American civil war were fought to free Americans from kneeling before a kings and masters. Americans stand because that is a gesture of freedom, our flag is a symbol of that freedom. America is not perfect, but fight your battle for freedom on your feet.

  • How about sitting on your ass and then saying your not going to stand and show pride a flag that represents a country that oppresses black people? Is that a sing of respect ? I'm confused... seriously millions of people have no fucking idea that he literally said it was about the flag .. blows my mind that nobody actually spends 30 seconds to check it..

    Maytrix redpillMaytrix redpill5 oy oldin
  • This argument isn't about kneeling for the flag. This argument is about associating the flag with police brutality and racism. That's why it pisses people off, myself included. So from now on this protest is normal. The next thing someone wants to change, they kneel for the flag, and so on. It has taken a symbol we should all honor and use to unit us, and turned it into a symbol of something less. A lot less. How about football players wives/girlfriends kneel during anthem to protest domestic abuse?

  • Use Common Sense, Its not about the kneeling stop being so ignorant. You dont protest at your job when your boss has nothing to do with the problem or solution. you cant let someone highjack a billion dollar corporation for their political gain, doesnt matter what the message is. its like if i protested at my job cus they canceled Poptarts. my boss would be like "what do you want me to do?" just use common sense. It doesnt matter if he asked a green barret if kneeling was ok, he doesnt speak for all veterans, just like bill cosby doesnt speak for all black people. youre not even trying to understand the facts and that its his own fault. also fyi its illegal to protest on private property. Kaep hasnt filled any role brilliantly hes punked out and left the movement, he never did anything in the offseason and he punked out for his job interview. you guys are wearing your rose colored glasses. kneeling for the flag is disrespectful , but then you keep doing while saying no disrespect to us. its like calling someone an asshole and then you tell them hey no disrespect. of course its disrespect you just called me an asshole. stop thinking were the ones not understanding the message when its you guys so stuck in your message that you dont care about anything else.

I respect kneeling for the anthem, but Americans stand up in bravery. We should try the hands across america thing again

    Michael CMichael C5 oy oldin
  • It is also a sign of submission, to swear fealty to a king you yes would kneel, but America, in America it was in direct opposition to the crown and a free people should not be forced to kneel to a tyrannical government, Church, ets. We are supposed to be free individuals, able to make our own choices. But hey, the government is playing games and people are playing right into it.

    Breyon K SmithBreyon K Smith5 oy oldin
  • Here's the bottom line... kneeling is a statement...if people find it offensive...GOOD its MEANT TO BE OFFENSIVE in the same way Blacks are OFFENDED at bad cops getting away with violating citizen's rights and persons. We are OFFENDED at a judicial system that gives the benefit of the doubt to a police officer in a case of questionable shooting or brutality under questionable circumstances where they should be held to a higher standard given their position. And we are OFFENDED at a society that's perfectly fine with all of this happening. So is the kneeling meant to offend...yes but it's not without reason or cause. Conservatives and right-wingers are going to find offense no matter what. They were offended by Black Lives Matters They were offended by the Parkland student activists They were offended by the Civil Rights Marchers in the 60s and that was about the most peaceful and respectful protest you could muster. In fact, when Kaepernick was first protesting he was sitting and a soldier told him the most respectful way to do it was to KNEEL so as to NOT OFFEND the military's sacrifice. But the right IGNORED that and TOOK OFFENSE ANYWAY. So at this point, I'm tired of trying to not offend. Black presence in this country alone is taken as offensive. So we may as well own what kneeling really means.

  • I totally respected Kaepernick for what he did standing up for what he believes is right that's more American than anything else my brother did three tours in Afghanistan and I sat down and talked to him wondering if that was going to be offencive my brother's response was I don't care what he does that's what I'm fighting for is so that we can have the choice to do whatever we want as long as it doesn't hurt people that is what America is about not the flag not the song it's about the people

    • Built Jdm it has meaning because we gave it meaning. Just like we deemed it appropriate to stand for the anthem when standing meaning absolutely nothing on its own. Kneeling is a non-threatening position and renders the one kneeling vulnerable. In every culture, I’ll say it again, kneeling it a sign of humility. It always has been. We kneel to propose, one kneels when they are being knighted, most religions kneel to pray. Kneeling has never been a sign of disrespect. It’s always been a sign of humility.

  • This is essentially the same thing as the 1968 Olympics, where African American athletes were told to not raise a closed fist in a black power salute and where punished when they did. From Wikipedia: The raised fist, or the clenched fist, is a symbol of solidarity and support.[1] It is also used as a salute to express unity, strength, defiance, or resistance. White folks are angry at uppity black folks who don't know their place. White folks love Jackie Robinson because he took racism without complaining. They hated Muhammad Ali because he didn't show gratitude to white folk let him participate. Because it's all about the white folks. Even when a black person is choked to death, white folks still manage to make it about them. And I know, not all white folks. Only the loud and obnoxious ones. I'm white. I'm not even talking about skin color. I'm talking about behavior. Mindset. Whatever.

The far right may have some whack opinion but I don't think and would hope most Americans don't think that looting proves that there is a reason for racial inequality. The extremists on both wings of our political system have embarrassingly bad and stubborn takes on so many subjects. Protesting is 100% warranted and I support the cause, and I would also say it's pretty tough to justify businesses getting looted in relation to it.
